Traffic calculation
  • Hypanel shows me that traffic calculation value is more than 159GB per 6 days! How?
Yesterday I've install vnstats for an alternatively statistic. It's shows only 250MB for both venet0 and lo connections. It's can be a much lower but i've download а lot of log files.

So, here is a questions: how calculation is exactly does? And how I can check it?

  • Hi aaliseyko and welcome to our forum. Please open a support ticket and I'll look over the VPS statistics.
  • Done. Waiting for a reply. Thnx.
  • Issue resolved in a couple of minutes and the ticket was closed. If there are any other problems or questions let us know.
  • OK. I will.
  • The problem isn't solved. Hypanel shows that traffic usage is near 10GB (for this month). Vnstat for both lo and venet0 interfaces shows lower than 1GB traffic usage.
Can someone explain what is happend?
  • I just installed vnstat in one of my vpses to see if I experience the same.
Keep in touch, I will post results here asap.
  • ok. will interesting to look.
  • @aaliseyko this may happen if we can't get your traffic usage at some point because of either memory issues inside your VPS or the VPS was rebooted due to a kernel panic. Other than that it should report correctly and the above mentioned issues will be fixed in the following weeks. Note that we do not take into account a traffic over usage in case issues like above appear so there is no need to worry about it for now.
  • Am I understand you correctly: IntoVPS will not get any additional money for traffic over usage while IntoVPS will not fix its problems with kernel panics, right?
  • Yes. Note that this is not a general issue and we will notice and inform a client when he actually got passed his limit.
  • last month I was noticed... but without any additional payments, as I understand.
How can I distinguish one notice (legal) from another (illegal)?
  • It's very simple: of you see abnormal spikes on the graph it's due to a bandwidth accounting bug and you won't be charged for bandwidth over usage.

If you're graph looks normal, with values below 100 Mbs you will be charged for extra traffic. Even if the invoice hasn't been issued yet.
